What would you change?

My Coworker and I were on our break when she blurted out, “I can’t wait until I’m 18 because, I absolutely hate my middle name and wish to change it to something cool and that I like.” She said with such confidence it made you wonder how soon her birthday was. But it’s crazy to realize how many things people are unpleased with nowadays. From the way you look, to the way you live, to the way you act, the list goes on and on. And we live in a society today where you can make adjustments to appearance, and enhancements to areas where it is needed. But just imagine this; say we lived in a world where we could change absolutely anything that we are displeased with. Change it to something that fully gives you a satisfaction. What would it be?
If you were displeased with your parents would you change them? To better ones or even new ones?  You would have the total control on how you would handle things. People always talk about how some parents never raise their children the way their suppose to. How they in some circumstances leave them in the hands of their parents to be responsible for it. That the child will grow up knowing their grandparents as their only guardian. There foolish and irrational parents out there in the world ignoring the fact that they owed their child some liability over them.
Or parents who physically and mentally abuse their children? Yes, they chose to keep and raise their child but for the wrong reasons? It’s sad to think that there are parents out in the world that are truthfully useless, and brutal. And as a consequence children that are raised in such a horrid environment have a higher chance of becoming insane or cooperating in psycho activities because of the lack of nurturing the parents performed. So what if we could change parents into better beings, literally? Would it make it a satisfactory world?
Or changing human beings in general? The mentally disabled, the sick, the criminals, the depressed, etc. Basically having everything in a manner that pleased one another. No more violence, no more sad days, no more fear in the world, an environment that God wanted us to have from the start.  And as we’re walking down the streets, we’d describe everyone and everything as angelic and pure.
If only we had those kinds of opportunities in life, sadly enough it’s impossible.  We got to accept the fact that we can’t always be satisfied, as much as we would love to. But when you get the chance like my Coworker why not take it? If its little opportunities and door openings that give you a glimpse of true happiness, then on all bets go for it.

  1. I adore you Karen and you optimistic take on things however, I disagree. I think those things in life are beautiful. The things that make us different. The hardships that are given to us that teach us lessons.I think that God didn't intend for us to live in a perfect world. If he did, he has all power, he would've made it that way. I feel like God wnated there to be things in life that we didn't like, things that are hard.I feel that is what life is all about. Taking what we're giving and choosing who we want to become from it. I think that changing things would be easy yes, but the greatest things in life don't come easy. I see where you're coming from but I have to disagree. I love you though!! =)

  2. Well i honestly have to say that though we wish that some things would change... they can't, they're here to stay. Some people would say that it's just the plan that God has aligned for us BUT i believe that from the beginning it was really up to yourself to make a path for you. Sure, you wouldn't have thought of it as a kid but even late in life you could still change some things that you don't particularly like. Like i say to some people, "You have a voice and the resources to make things better for you, just learn to use them." :) Some things are impossible to change but there are some alternatives:)

  3. Karen the ideas you present here really got me thinking. The reason I believe we have the struggles and the bad times in our lives is the punishment that God gave Adam and Eve for sinning. The world was perfect before that and once they ate the apple, the whole world changed and they were kicked out of the perfect garden.
Enough of the religious stuff. Wouldn't that just be so great to be able to change anything that you didn't like or agree with? I think it would be so cool! But what would happen if two people saw acceptable as two different meanings. For example if a person changed the world by getting rid of abortion, but then someone else believed that abortion was ok, what would happen? Just something to get you thinking.
Great post Karen keep it up.
